Marv Ayers suggested for September we take a
trip to Smolan Kansas for our meeting. We will
be making the plans. If anyone has a suggestion
on days or times please let Bob Burns know.
Rider Class
.Bob Burns
Information has been obtained from the
Sedgwick County Sheriffs Office Motor Unit on
the class they attended. A couple of them will
be adjusting some of the maneuvers for general
use and will assist the chapter in instruction.
New Business:
Communication
...
.Bob Burns
A test email was sent to those with an email
address. About 80% responded acknowledging they
received the test. Bob will try to develop a way
for those not receiving his emails to be
included some way or another.
Speedometer Check
. Dave Keene and Bob Burns
Dave Keene suggested we use the Sedgwick
County Sheriffs Offices speed trailer to have
citizens check their speedometers for accuracy.
A report was sent to Sheriff Steed requesting
the use of the trailer. It was approved as long
as the County Counselor approves. The Wichita
International Raceway at 6100 N. Ridge Rd
(actually ½ west of Ridge Rd on 61st)
has been contacted and they have tentatively
agreed. Other aspects will be explored and
passed along as they develop. Members at the
meeting agreed this would be good PR.
Lords Diner
.
.Bob Burns
Each year just before Thanksgiving, Papa
Johns and KZSN sponsor a meal at the Lords
Diner at Central and Broadway in Wichita. This
is a location where the homeless seek meals.
Terry Newman, Vice President of Papa Johns was
contacted and said it would be great if our
chapter assisted with this diner. To serve, a
person would need a food handlers permit which
Bob Burns will get the information and
distributed it when available. Even if some do
not have the permit you can help keep the tables
clean. This is a great opportunity to have our
chapters name on the radio for several days
achieving some positive public relations. It was
agreed we will participate.
Next Meeting
.
.
. Bob Burns
The next meeting will be held in Hutchinson.
The date is tentatively set for the 28th
at 2: PM. This is the meeting where member
Robert Cruz does his magic at the grill. He will
need to know how many will attend and if you
want ribs or steaks. A separate email will be
sent with more details.
